Our Mission
Moonbuggy Engineering creates custom electric vehicle conversions that elevate performance and celebrate nostalgia, the future and the environment.
Who We Are
Moonbuggy Engineering was founded by Trenton Wonsley, a Southern California native and mechanical engineer who holds a world record with Team Vesco for engineering the fastest electric vehicle in the world at 353 MPH. Racing, speed and quality have inspired Wonsley’s designs to test the boundaries of technology in the auto industry. As a curator of engineering and design for state-of-the-art electric vehicle conversions, Wonsley has led dozens of conversion projects over his career including the first electric Ferrari, Maserati BiTurbo featured on Wheeler Dealers, and even dune buggies and motorcycles. Most recently Wonsley was featured on Jay Leno’s Garage series where Leno himself drove Wonsley’s converted Porsche 912 and said it was “one of the best [he’s] ever driven.” If you see an old hot rod or classic car that silently flies by you on the road, it’s very likely Wonsley has had a role and he’s looking forward to helping you with your next project!
A Note From the Founder
“Racing can be unforgiving, it tests how well we’ve assessed the mechanicals, logistics, and mental preparedness. That type of atmosphere allows flexibility in our design to increase performance, enhance reliability, and trim weight. Our world record was just the beginning for me, and I plan to keep pushing the boundaries of electric vehicles as the industry grows to solve issues with existing architecture for decades to come.”
